Yes -that is the name of a song – but I was listening to it while starting this newsletter and it explained what I don’t always have words for. If you have not heard of it, just google it. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
Tonight I was faced with disappointment. There was only 3 of us on the pier tonight. I kept thinking, I should just go home. We will pass out maybe a 100 Bibles. I know not the best attitude to have, have grace people.
I was trying to hold a sign with a wind gust and pass out full Bibles at the same. I kept smacking myself with the sign and trying to remember if I was saying “free Chinese Bible” correct.
And then it happened. I had passed out a few full Bibles but it was going slow and I was a bit disappointed. I’m being honest here, so extend grace. Then here she came…running back to get a Bible with a huge smile on her face, asking in English “free”? That was all it took. The look on her face was enough for my praise breakthrough. Now, I know what you are thinking? Should it have taken that? It is an honor to give the Word of God out, and you are 100% correct. However, until you’ve been here and done it, you won’t fully understand the struggle.
Another praise breakthrough – This man with a smile the size of the moon wearing a big floppy tourist hat with the normal flowered shirt came up and asked for a full Bible. I handed it to him, and he held out his other hand. I was thinking – what does he want? Most Asian people do not shake hands, but he did. He took my hand and shook it and said, “thank you very much” in English and something inside me melted.
The disappointment – GONE
There are moments in life when you just know that you are right where God planned for you to be. This was one of those moments. At this point I didn’t care if that was the ONLY Bible, we passed out all night. That handshake was enough. I could have left right then. I felt as if God had reached down right at that moment and shook my hand personally. Of course, the man wasn’t God, please don’t misunderstand me, but God used that man to speak to me. In the middle of my mess and attitude – GOD STILL SPOKE TO ME.
Let’s not forget that at the end of the night the brother and sister I was serving with were so encouraging me, telling me how proud they were of me. Coming out to lead Bibles all by myself (Joshua is serving in another country). They have no idea of the impact of those words. Yet again – PAPA GOD was showing off and using other people to confirm the place I am meant to be and that He is proud of me.
I honestly could not wait to get home and share with you all. I want you all to stop right where you are at and ask Papa God for what you need. Is it a smile, hug, high-five, or maybe a butterfly landing on your nose? Whatever you need from Papa God – He will give it to you. All you need to do is look for it and don’t doubt it when it happens. I’ve talked to so many people that dismiss the small things (they aren’t big enough for God) oh whatever! God is in ALL the details no matter how great or small. Ask Him to meet you right where you are at. Matthew 7:7 (NIV), “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” We are told to ask, seek, and knock. So what are you waiting for? Start asking, right now. Seek HIM with everything you got and you WILL FIND HIM.
